Admission FAQ's

Q. How do I apply?
A. Fill out an application for our entrance exam, located on our website under the Admissions tab or pick up an application in the front office. The application for the entrance exam must be completed by January 19, 2012.

Q. When is the entrance exam?
A. The entrance exam will be held at Mater Dei Catholic High School on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 7:45 AM.

Q. What happens after the exam?
A. All applicants will be interviewed at Mater Dei Catholic High School in the first three weeks of February 2012. You will receive a formal response of your admission status from Mater Dei Catholic School by March 2, 2012.

Q. If I am accepted, how do I register?
A. Attend Freshmen registration night on March 13 or March 15, 2012 according to last name.  A registration checklist is available with important items needed to register via the receptionist. 

Financial Information FAQ’S

Q. What is the current tuition?
A. Catholic and U.S. Resident - $11,640 Non-Catholic or International - $13,680 Registration/Book Fee - $560
You must be registered in a San Diego parish for more than one year and be a U.S. resident to be eligible for the Catholic tuition rate.

Q. Are there scholarships?
A. Yes, Mater Dei does offer scholarships for 2012. The President's Scholarship is awarded to incoming 9th grade students only who place in the 99th Percentile Nationally on the entrance exam and covers 100% of tuition over four years.  The Merit Scholarships are awarded to the 5 top incoming 9th grade students scores based upon performance on the entrance exam and cover 50% of tuition over four years. Students MUST take the entrance exam at Mater Dei Catholic High School on January 21, 2012 to be eligible for all scholarships and tuition assistance. 

Q. If we don't receive a scholarship is there tuition assistance available?
A. Yes, need-based tuition assistance is awarded to those families who are most in need of financial aid. Students must take the entrance exam at Mater Dei Catholic High School on January 21, 2012 to be eligible for tuition assistance.

Q. How do I apply for tuition assistance?
A. Information about tuition assistance will be available on January 9, 2012 and must be completed by March 16, 2012. You MUST be registered to be considered for tuition assistance.

Q. What percentage of applicants receive tuition assistance?
A. 67% of those who applied for tuition assistance for the 2011-2012 school year received assistance.

Q. What is the average tuition assistance package?
A. $4,000 for the 2011-2012 school year.

Q. When is the first tuition payment available?
A. The first tuition payment is due in July 2012 for the 2012-2013 school year.
