Academy of Science
MISSION
The Academy of Science provides an exemplary science learning experience in two ways. First, the Academy engages students in practical and theoretical science through collaborations and partnerships with the scientific community. Second, the Academy challenges students with a rigorous academic program that encourages all students to achieve at the highest levels of excellence in preparation for college and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ACADEMY OF SCIENCE

Four years of Science - one course must be Advanced Placement

Four years of Math - one course must be Advanced Placement

Score of 85 percentile or better on placement exam in reading and math

Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.25 at the end of Freshman year

Interview with Academy Director and Science teachers at end of Freshman year

Written commitment to participate in Academy Seminars during seventh block

Freshman candidates will be chosen in the Spring semester of every year
