Distance Learning

ScheduleI hope you are staying healthy and safe as we head into Easter Break. I am sure that you are all aware of Governor Newsom’s announcement that public schools in California will not be returning to their campuses for the remainder of the school year. The Diocesan Office for Schools has not officially made this decision for Catholic Schools. We will continue instruction through Distance Learning after Easter Break, and will be adopting a more frequent class meeting schedule (as outlined below), while we await further direction from the Diocese.

This past week of virtual classes was successful, as students and teachers were excited to see each other. This is an unprecedented situation, and I am proud of how our community has come together to support one another. Although we are not on our campus, our faculty will continue to support students in their learning. Teachers have expressed how impressive many students have been, turning in work early, helping each other with technology issues, and continuing to work hard. They have exemplified what it means to be “Christ-Centered” and “Life-Long, Self-Directed Learners." Watching our students rise to these challenges assures me that they will be successful in college and beyond!

April 6-17 is our Easter Break, and there will not be any classes. When school resumes on April 20, we will follow a new Distance Learning schedule. Friday, April 24 was scheduled to be a day off for underclassmen while seniors gave their Capstone presentations. That will now be a day off for everyone. Please see the schedule above.

Please click below and view our student expectations during distance learning. Your students will be receiving this today as well, and it will also be posted on Schoology for reference. Also, if you are having any technical issues, please contact helpdesk@materdeicatholic.org.
