Summer Reading Assignments & Fall Novels
One of the four Integral Student Outcomes at MDCHS challenges students to become “life-long self-directed learners.” With this goal in mind, students entering grades 9-11 will participate in a summer reading assignment prior to the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
Summer is the perfect time to explore new ideas, perspectives, and stories beyond the classroom. This summer, you’ll dive into a thought-provoking book that will challenge your thinking, expand your vocabulary, and keep your critical reading skills sharp. Whether you're on a road trip, at the beach, or relaxing at home, your summer reading will help you start the next school year with confidence and insight.
Due Date:
It is expected that you’ve completed your summer reading assignment before the first day of the new school year. Please bring your book and any notes with you, and come in ready to discuss, analyze, and connect the book to real-world themes when we return in the fall!
Advanced Placement and Honors Courses
Our academic program is designed to advance every student’s learning, whether they need a little extra support, or want to get ahead by taking dual enrollment and AP courses. Our esteemed Academy of Science offers a work-based learning program for those interested in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) through internships with industry-leading organizations.
The Aquinas Center supports students with documented Learning Differences, and the Language Academy was developed to provide assistance with English Language Development. Our students explore their interests in a dynamic academic environment while growing within a supportive, nurturing community. A variety of theology courses will be offered from freshman all the way through senior year.
We offer a range of accelerated academic courses designed to deepen students' knowledge and critical thinking skills. These courses challenge students to engage with complex material, fostering intellectual growth and resilience. By emphasizing academic rigor and high standards, we ensure students are well-prepared for the demands of college and beyond.
